Reserve Rental Kayak for the People Paddle Race

Race Day: May 4, 2008 Sunday

Rental check-in begins at 8:30am

Race starts at 10am

Race course closes at 1pm

You may request a favorite kayak. We assign kayaks based on your height and weight. If you are used to a kayak, describe the model, width, length, last time you paddled, how often you paddle, etc. We will do the best to fit each paddler's experience and size.

Early reservation gets a higher priority. We try to match a stable kayak for each paddler.

Only paddlers with paddle float self-rescue experience can request a touring kayak.

For each racer a life jacket and paddle will be provided. We do not provide touring kayak accessories to simplify the operation during the race. There are safety boats along the course of race.

Getting Ready

Race: Wear moisture wicking layers for the race. You may appreciate warm layers for cool morning.

Bring: change of clothes and shoes

Also, consider: bottled water, moisture wicking skin layer (like quick dry shirt), hat or cap, water resistent shell, sun protection (sunblock and sunglasses), towel, contact lens (rather than prescription glasses), not bringing valuables.

Motion Sickness

You are more likely to get motion sickness if you are;
feeling weak, hungry, and hung over.

Eating ginger, or sparkling water can help if you are sensitive to motion sickness.
