Rental Area
Beginner Route
Beginners can paddle in protected waters; McCovey Cove, Mission Creek.
Along the way you can paddle under Lefty O'Doul draw bridge and visit
unique houseboats in the creek. Round trip takes one hour. Famillies
with children should stay in this area.
Intermediate Route
If you have solid paddling skills (able to paddle fast, turn quickly,
and go reverse), you may venture into main part of the bay. 2
hour paddling along the scenic San Francisco downtown and The Ramp restaurant
is popular if the condition allows.
* The paddling condition
of San Francisco bay is affected by many elements (moving water, wind,
boat traffic, special events) and knowing the condition before heading
out is important. Paddlers should check the tide
chart at each landmark and weather.
We can help you planning for the best route when you arrive at the shop.
Advanced Route
Advanced paddlers
frequent to Treasure Island (3 hour trip), but you must be out of channel
by 1pm to avoid getting caught in wind. Rental boundary ends at Pier
27 even for advanced paddlers. Because of strong conditions and heavy
boat traffic past this point, we only offer escorted trips past the
boundary.
