If you have been paddling in the San Francisco bay and
are familiar with the conditions, renting a kayak is
a great option. You can plan the route, pace, and destination
yourself.
We
have more requirements in renting a kayak than joining
a trip. In addition to Trip Restrictions we require

touring kayak.
Also,
we recommend that you have a buddy on the water.
If
you are not sure about your friend's and family's
paddling ability, join a trip that is escorted.

Self-rescue
Clinic
Location: City Kayak
Cost: $20 per person
Time: selected weekends (approx. 2-3 hours)

There are a few
advantages sit-in sea touring kayaks have over sit-on-top
kayaks. They allow you to go on longer trips and keep you
dry. Those slim and fast sit-in kayaks are less tiring as
well. To paddle these boats in San Francisco bay you should
be able to get back into the kayak quickly because of the
challenging conditions.
In
this clinic you will learn how to perform a self-rescue using
a paddle float and a few other re-entry methods. You will see
an instructor's demo, get valuable tips, practice on the ground,
and then practice in the water. By the end of the clinic you
should have completed multiple self-rescues and be able to get
back in less than 2 minutes.
Forward
