Free Kayaking Sampler*

Ever wanted to try out what kayaking is like... for free? We will show you how to paddle, and you can test ride a kayak on the water.

You get 30 minutes of paddling in a small protected area. Children (minimum weight 30lbs) will need to paddle with an adult.

We provide life jacket, paddle, and a sit-on-top kayak for this sampler.

* Need to be present at the start time for a free ticket. 30 tickets are available. No reservation is accepted.

Single and double kayaks are available. Stable double kayaks are used for beginners.

Location

City Kayak South Beach Harbor is at the intersection of The Embarcadero and Townsend.

2 hour visitor parking is located in the front of the pier. Parking permit can be purchased at the South Beach Harbor. Street closure may affect access to the parking lot.

Muni lines to Brannan station and AT&T Park are the nearest stops. Bicycling along the Embarcadero, Townsend, and Brannan streets are easiest route.

Things to Bring

Clothes that you don’t mind getting wet, bottled water, sun protection, waterproof camera. Layers of clothes and wind shells are recommended. Weather changes from cold morning to hot noon and windy afternoon.

Storage cubicles and baggage check-in is available, but please leave your valuables at home. City Kayak is not responsible for any lost or stolen items.
